Be Bright. Be Bold. Be Brave. BE YOU!

Be Bright. Be Bold. Be Brave. Be YOU!

I think in today’s world it’s so easy to feel the weight and pressure to be like everyone else but the truth is, we were all made differently. I can’t help but think of the verse in the Bible that says if you were gifted to teach, then teach and if it’s to encourage to encourage and so on. I think, often however, we lose sight of this. We see the message we are told through the eyes of the world, we listen to it, and we become it. Been there, done that! I was reminded yesterday while working on this art project, however, that God made us each uniquely.

As I worked on her and saw the piece come to life, I was reminded that we are all different and that there is real beauty in being different. As an artist, I can say that God meant to do this. I mean, it would get really boring making the same piece over and over and over again. As I thought about my journey to being the me I was designed to be, I realized, it’s hard taking the path to one’s true self. For there are many voices in each of our lives that tell us who we should be or what we should be. So, to be YOU is a bold and brave thing to do. I still struggle, if I’m honest, with being a stay-at-home mom. I feel outside pressure from others to be more. I feel their judgement in my time at home and often hear their faint voices in my head – the ones that say, “You should go to work, now that you’re kids are in school.” Well, that’s just not the road God has led me down. To be here, and have the ability and time to create and give to my family and friends, however, is the road He’s asked me to walk. And, I’m grateful that I have the ability to do this, for I know there are many who would love to be able to do the same. To be me, also means to remain true to who I am, what I think, and how I feel. It takes a brave person to be real with others. It’s not easy being true to yourself, for many may reject you. For years, I did what others wanted me to. I played the game of agreeing with everyone else for I didn’t want to make any waves. This is still hard for me. But, slowly, I am finding that I can be true to the person God designed me to be. I, often, have to remind myself that Jesus, himself, didn’t allow people to walk all over him. He stood up for what He believed in, He spoke the truth, and He was 100% authentic. Some people accepted this, and some didn’t. But He didn’t let that stop Him. Oh, to be more and more like Him!

At any rate, I wanted to share this piece and remind all of you to BE YOU, the YOU you were created to be, not the YOU that the world, your friends, or your family would tell you to be, but the YOU God designed you to be.
